Most people call them prints but as you will learn the Giclee has many advantages over the old lithograph print. You've spent hours, days, weeks or months on your latest creation. Isn't it exciting when the first person to see it buys it and takes it away? Then you think to yourself, "Oh Bugger! I should have taken a photograph of it before it went".
If you are like most artists, you'll manage to take a snapshot for your own records but these small photographs or digital files, even when taken on the best 35mm camera, are no use when it comes to quality giclee reproductions. Often artists will have their art photographed professionally on transparency film which is better than nothing but creates it's own problems, not to mention extra expense when having it scanned and retouched - they are alway covered in dust and scratches no matter how careful you are.
We recommend that if you are thinking of reproducing your art at anytime in the future then you bring it in to us and we can photograph it using our custom-designed high end digital equipment. Most digital cameras available even for the pros are around 6-8megapixels - the camera we use is a massive 60 megapixels and we have custom-made lighting to ensure we capture every single detail, even the texture, of your original.
Because we do everything in house we can colour match the file to your original to ensure the most accurate reproductions when you are ready to make them happen.
While we prefer to work from originals for the best quality reproductions we can still scan your transparencies or negatives to the highest degree for the best result.
We have a combined 100 odd years of experience in the field of photography and know how to photograph your art to capture the detail, texture and tonal qualities you painted. Even if you don't want any reproductions of your work now we are happy to photograph your art and provide digital files as required. Special rates may apply if a number of originals are brought in at the one time.
